Spend a day exploring the iconic Table Mountain and the famous Robben Island prison famed for hosting Nelson Mandela. You'll take a cable car ride up to the top of Table Mountain, and spend time exploring Robben Island Museum, and seeing the very cell where Mandela was imprisoned, with a local guide to lead the way.

    Take the five-minute cable car trip to the top of Table Mountain, 1 089 metres above Cape Town, and explore the summit (The Cableway is wheelchair accessible, and yes, some parts at the top are too). This is a great spot to sit and soak up the commanding 360-degree views of Cape Town, Table Bay, the nearby peaks of the surrounding mountains and the rest of the Table Mountain National Park, in which the Cableway is situated. Hit one of three hiking trails that start at the Upper Cable Station and explore the summit further. Table Mountain is part of a World Heritage Site, an important part of the Cape Floristic Region and the single richest floristic area in the world. There is a lot of fynbos vegetation on the mountain, with over 1 460 different species of plants. There are also plenty of dassies, lizards, insects and birdlife to be seen. You’ll find our self-service restaurant, Table Mountain Café, offering a range of food and drinks, snacks, desserts and wines. A selection of gifts and curios are on sale at the Shop at the Top. Pop in and find something special to remind you of your visit to the highest point in Cape Town.

  • Robben Island Museum, Cape Town Central, South Africa
    The ferries depart from the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V & A Waterfront. You will disembark at Murray’s Bay Harbour situated on the east coast of the Island and take a short walk to buses that will transport you to all the historical sites around the Island. You will meet your Tour Guide when you have boarded the busses. A Robben Island Tourist Guide will conduct the prison tour. This is part of our integrated tour model. They are fully conversant and knowledgeable about the Island’s multi-layered 500-year-old history. The tour route includes the graveyard of people who died from leprosy, the Lime Quarry, Robert Sobukwe’s house, the Bluestone quarry, the army and navy bunkers and the Maximum Security Prison where thousands of South Africa’s freedom fighters were incarcerated for years. The tour culminates with a viewing of Nelson Mandela’s cell.

    Explore this beautiful mall by the waterfront. Top class restaurants which offer wide variety of cuisines including restaurant which offer South African dining. Our tour was extremely good and so much fun. Booking and communications were excellent. The tour itself was a big hit for us. Benjamin our tour guide went beyond for us and even helped take us around couple more days. Very informative guy and super humble. I would recommend this place to anyone. 10/10 for us! Thank you!

I would encourage anyone visiting Cape Town to book this tour with Africa Xplora! I learned a lot from the visit to Robben Island, and was moved by the story of our guide there. Our trip to Table Mountain was amazing. Our tour guide Quentin went the extra mile to make sure that my friends and I had an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this tour and this tour company.
